We often get asked: "How do we get started turning a single relationship into a vast network?" The simple answer is that we don't. That's the Holy Spirit's job, a good thing too as it would be near impossible for us to do. All we have to do is be obedient and faithful in our part of the task. Here are a few tips that my help you though:
| Preamble: Ever find when you start a task like this that it seems like it's all just "TOO BIG"? here is a tool to get you started. MAWL is the Go-To tool for anything but if you are trying to re-boot long term traditional believers then the Strategy Snapshot makes a neat workshop. There is another tool that some people use in the West called 411. It was designed to reboot old believers in a USA culture or similar. (Just Google '411 tool' and you will find how it is used. but we don't tend to use it.) There is a more general tool that can be used in any culture. Not only can it be used to reboot an old believer but also younger believers who are looking for more people to reach out to. This is called: called "Why, Who, What, and How". (Please see below.) | Strategy Snap Shot (Usually used to reboot long term traditional believers.) |
| Step One: A Prayer Oikos Map to help you start your multiplication off. It is a great way to get more information so you can have much more specific prayer requests and to cast vision. A more complete package is the Why, Who, What and How tool. It combines the MAWL technique into the process. We tend to use it instead of the 411 tool as it has more consistent results within a wider range of cultures. | |
| Step Two: A Group Maturity Check. (NB: This is a paradigm change. It used to be thought of as a 'Health Check'.) | 5 Roles Maturity Check |
| Step Three: Mapping your Oikos Network. This task helps you keep track of where you are going and where you have been. It helps to assist the people below you as they assist you. It can even help you find problems and fix roadblocks. | Generation Mapping |
| Trouble Shooting Tip #1: We often get asked: "Do you ever take the disciples under your care into an established mainstream church?" "When do you take a disciple into another church or a different network?" Here are some guidelines but let the Holy Spirit have the last say. | My Ten Rules of "chruch" |
| Iron On Iron Sessions: These are supervised peer to peer coaching sessions. The times can be adjusted to the meeting's requirements. Complete honesty, and leaving your ego at the door is compulsory for this to have any positive effect at all. Remember, if you are a peer looking on that you too will have your turn in the hot seat! Love, respect and honesty are the keys. | Iron on Iron guidelines |
